In 2009 she attained LEED Accredited Professional status through the U.S. Green Building Council.  Whitney received her Masters of Architecture in 1995  from the University of Virginia where she was awarded the Alpha Rho Chi medal and a merit scholarship from the American Institute of Architects. She graduated magna cum laude from University of Pennsylvania in 1990, with a degree in Design of the Environment.  Before starting her own practice, Whitney worked in the award-wining offices of Kieran, Timberlake and Associates, Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates, and William Sherman and Associates. She lives in Charlottesville with her husband and two children.
